Firm History

Shinault Baker & Company was founded by Larry G. Baker and Michael D. Shinault. Mr. Baker and Mr. Shinault studied together at the California State University of Bakersfield, where they graduated in 1977 with degrees in Business and Public Administration. After each obtaining nearly 10 years of post-graduate experience at other accounting firms, they decided to join their practices and open Shinault Baker & Company in September 1986. Together, they were senior managing partners of the firm until Mr. Shinault’s passing in June 2021.

Mr. Baker is licensed as a certified public accountant by the State of California. He leads a team of three certified public accountants, four senior professionals, and two administrative staff members, each averaging over 10 years of experience in the industry. From tax planning and preparation to financial statements preparation and attest services, Shinault Baker & Company is capable of handling the tax and accounting needs for individuals and medium-to-large businesses.
